In this age of ebooks, a printed book remains special. It can be signed with ease and given as a present, and the reader owns it outright (Amazon retain legal property rights on Kindle books they sell). Still, the basic appeal is much more instinctive; print implies substance. When you hold it, feel its physical weight and flick through its pages, that is the moment many authors truly feel a book is born.
I have three packages for print book design: Basic, Standard and Premium.
A streamlined formatting process with a quick turnover time, suitable for text-only books (e.g. novels). You will get a professional-quality book with your cover, metadata, front/back matter (no images) and ISBN included.
Personalised fonts, an individual consultation, and some consideration of your genre and current marketing needs. That’s what you get with this package. I can also discuss ISBNs and work with you to keep the book price within your desired range (i.e. manipulate the page count with formatting tricks!). Your book will present itself to the reader as a well-crafted, appealing package.
Here are some pages from “Feather Brains“, an illustrated children’s book typeset and laid out by me.
You want your book to be a thing of beauty. With my Premium service, the individual nature of your book will shine. I am especially fond of adding design elements inside the book which mirror the cover art. This works particularly well when I can consult the artist (or be the artist!). Here are some pages from Shakespeare Goes Punk; observe the huge fancy titles (I used these before each story).
On this page you will see more details about my services, work style and rates.
